Two Weeks Left!

And the countdown begins . . .

There are only 14 short days left if you are thinking about entering the Circle C short-story writing contest this year. January 15 at midnight is the deadline. So far, I've been reading some super-great stories. Good luck, judges (LOL). It will be hard to choose stories this year! I'm especially excited  to see a good showing so far in the 14-17 age so early on.

Probably 80% of the stories show up the last two days, so please try not to wait until the last minute. The earlier your story is turned in, the more I will enjoy it as I format it to get ready for the judges.

I format all stories at 1.5 line spacing, Palatino font, 12pt, and NO line spaces. If you can do that, you will save me a lot of time.

And please indent your paragraphs. That helps too. And no fancy titles or fonts. I just change them to the "boring" Palatino font anyway. It's important for the judges that all the stories "look" alike in presentation.

I'm getting excited for this newest edition!

  1. Yeah, about the last minute thing. I forgot about the contest until the newsletter came out saying that there was only two weeks left. I'm so sorry, I am still in the writing process.

    2. Unfortunately, I will have to enter the contest next year. I only have about 400 words and unexpectedly my mom just told me I am taking Driver's Ed classes starting Monday. I won't have time to finish it. Hopefully next year will be better!

And maybe start your story a little earlier for next year, LOL

  2. Okay. What do you mean when you say "no line spacing"? :-)

    1. Oh, just no extra line spaces between the paragraphs. But it's no big deal. It's easy for me to fix, so don't worry about it! :-)

    3. Oh, good to know, 'cause I naturally put extra line spaces between my paragraphs.

  3. After this deadline has closed, will we be able to read last years writing contest stories?

    3. Sorry you can't enter! This is my last year to be eligible for the contest, don't know what I'm going to do next year. Maybe I can still send Mrs. M a story, just not enter the contest. If I do that, I won't have to worry about a word count! Although I should keep it reasonable...ten thousand words or so XD

  5. I had a super time writing my stories, and editing them with my Mom (i.e. Jennifer is spelled with two N's, honey). Thank you, Mrs. Marlow, for hosting these contests. I've never heard of an author doing such cool things for fans.

  6. Thank you sooo much for hosting these contests, Mrs. Marlow! I still have not turned in my story, and I'm working on another one (as you know). AAAG! I'm gonna push getting it done on time. I really want to send in both. Thanks for the heads-up!
