Contest Stories

For the contestants who did not place, I am happy to post your stories (over a period of time). I will add more to this blog post as they come in, and I will periodically update the "date" so it goes "to the top" of the page so you can link over and enjoy the stories.

I have to format them to look nice on the blog, so that means re-reading them. They are all so fun! Makes me super-glad I hold firm and don't judge the stories. I would have such a hard time choosing! I hope you are all grateful to the six judges for their work. They do it for free. What a blessing to all of us!

Karen asked me to post her story, "Captured in the Woods"

A contest story from Kara S. and McKenzie S. "Dawn of a New Beginning"

Here is Mariah's contest entry: "Blessings of Gold"

And now one from Aliyah: "The Road Home"

March 1st: Rose's entry: "Whatever Life Gives Us"

March 5th: Hannah's entry: "Andi's Daring Rescue"

March 11th: Sadie Parker's entry: "Andi's Mistake"

March 18th: Emily's entry: "Pride Goes Before the Falls"

March 18th: Caleigh's entry: "Andi Meets a Friend"

April 11th: Faith P.'s entry: "Easter Adversities"

    1. If you tell me the name of the story and the age category. The stories are in my files by NUMBER not by NAME, so I don't know which story is yours (the judges didn't get any names, only numbers).

  5. Hey, Mrs. M! Have your publishers decided what the title for the 4th Circle C Milestone book will be?

    1. Yes! And it's NONE of what we wanted. Go figure, but I like it very much. I'm kind of waiting for the cover before I share the title, but if it's driving you crazy I will tell you. :-)

    2. Isn't the title on the Milestones page? I saw one there yesterday, and I liked it.

    3. I agree... the title (which I'm assuming is on the CCMilestones page) is way different than any one we thought of, but it's growing on me and I like it!!

    4. AUGH!! You guys are WAY better than I am at this stuff. I can't believe I forgot about that. YES, I did put it up on the website. LOLOLOL

Kregel really, really wanted a title that wrapped things up, and Hidden shadows, Shadows from theh Past, etc. seemed dark and "in the middle of things" to them.

You will gag at what they originally suggested. (I panicked!) They said, "Just the Beginning." And all I could think of is . . . this book is NOT the beginning of ANYTHING. It's the last book. Hello!

So I suggested No Place LIke Home (since they didn't want anything SHADOW type). My marketing manager loved it, but the rest of the committee did not. Too generic.

well, come to find out, they REALLY wanted Courageous Love, but they didn't think I would go for it. (not wanted "romance" type stuff).

But I LOVED it. It doesn't sound romancy to me. The theme is COURAGE, and Andi's love for her family spurs her into making big sacrifices. So, how is this not a perfect title, a biblical title (Greater love hath no man .. . . etc.)

And the fact that she does get married in the end is just another "prong" of the title's meaning.

      There you have it . . .

    1. I uploaded the corrected file this morning and am waiting for Create Space to tell me I'm good to go. :-) (I had ordered a proof copy--it looks GREAT!) and found and fixed all (hopefully) of the typos, like missing commas, "corral" spelled "coral," things like that. As soon as they approve it, I will order the books. They should come in less than 2 weeks, and then I will send them all out! Very excited! I think you will be pleased with how your stories look in the book.
