Vote for Riley's Horse

Oooh, you sent links to so many pretty appaloosas I hardly knew where to begin to choose. I did not know there were so many kinds! After looking at them all, I matched the four closest I had in my head for my original idea of what Riley's appaloosa looked like: bay appaloosa, gray appaloosa, black appaloosa, and brown blanket appaloosa. (The leopard appaloosas some of you sent were interesting but not how I envisioned Riley's horse, so I didn't use those.)
If the poll is not on the side bar when you see this post, come back a little later. It will be up as soon as I can get it there in the morning.

It's so hard to choose that I need you to help me. Which horse matches what you think would be a good color for Riley to ride? Vote on the poll on the right sidebar.

By the way Mrs.M, did you choose a name, or will we be voting on those as well?

  3. The poll is now up. And yes, it is going to be hard! That's why I'm asking you readers! I can't decide which one I like best!

I think I chose a name, but I'm not sure. I can't have any names that begin with "S" since that is Shasta's name and I was already confused with Splash. I am thinking Dakota.

  4. I voted for the bay, but it was a hard choice! Dakota is a good name, I also
    like Cherokee.

  6. If you like Dakota the black would be best so I think I'll bote 4 that one.:-)

  7. Like I said, I voted for the bay, but I think the black one looks like a Dakota.

  11. I think it should be a black one 'cause his first horse was Midnight, and he was black. ;)

  12. The Gray Appaloosa is actually a Blue Roan appaloosa.

    1. But for the voting it's probably easier to just use "gray" for now. Thanks for the tweaking!

    5. Not trying to be mean, but why are you releasing the fourth book a year later than the third when you released the 1st and 2nd book within months of each other? I know it takes a while for the book to be written and published but how come the 1st and 2nd were released so close to each other then you wait a whole year to release the 4th book? Hope I am not being mean writing this down I'm just wondering why it will take longer to publish the 4th book.

    6. Nah, it's not mean. It's a valid question. I wanted it to release in the fall of 2016 to keep the rhythm of the other 3 books. But my publishing company says in order to do that I have to have the manuscript to them by September. Yeah. THIS September. Now, I ask you. Why do they need the ms a full year ahead of time? I do not know, but I have to play by their rules.

I have not written the book yet. In fact, I have only 4 chapters written out of 25 or 26. I can't write a book that fast. So I have a February 2016 due date to turn the book in. Which means it will be a whole year from there.

Oh, I already had book 1 written when I proposed the series. I also had much of Book 2 and a whole LOT of Book 3 written. That is why they could release them in shorter increments. But I had a blank screen when it was time to think about book 4, so that throws the whole schedule out of whack.

I am not happy about that, since it seems to me they could get the book out by the fall, but again, I have to play by the publisher's rules. It is worth it, as they are a great publisher.

If I self-published it, I could have it out any time I want. But that is not the case.

I hope that explains it. I am not happy either.

      Mrs. M

    1. Dawn is my editor's name, and it sounds like a girl's name so I'd better pass on that suggestion. LOL

    1. Yes, I think I"m going to go with Dakota. I put it into the story chapters and it seems to flow really well.

AUGH! It's a tie so far between Bay and Gray (Blue Roan) appaloosa. What am I going to do about THAT? It can't be BOTH. LOL

    2. They both would fit Riley really well:)
