Riley needs a horse

And here we are once again, friends. Mrs. M needs your help for two very important things:

1. A picture of what you think is your idea of a nice appaloosa horse for Riley. (There is quite a variety of patterning and coloring!) Mrs. M has not given anybody an appaloosa horse in any of the books yet, so now is the time (since I read up on them and found out they have been in the western U.S. way before the setting of the CCMilestones books. Please leave links in the comments or you can email me pictures if you have my email address. If not, contact me via the Blogger Contact Form and I'll reply with my email.

2. Once we have a picture of Riley's appaloosa, then I will need a name for this horse. "Freckles" has been suggested as one of the names. I like it, but I don't generally like names that end in an "s." It makes it awkward, like "Freckles's saddle." I would like other names too so we can vote on which name most of us like.

Thanks a bunch!

  8. Here's a pretty picture I found. The name Splash might fit with the picture, since it looks like he has a splash of milk on his back.

    1. His name was originally Splash, but I have to change it because it's too close to "Shasta," and I'm always mixing the words up when I'm writing this newest story. *sigh*

  13. About it being awkward, wouldn't it be 'freckles' saddle' instead of 'freckles's saddle'. Since it meds with an s. Just wondering

    1. It's only "Jesus" with the one "s": Jesus' blood.
Anybody's name that ends in an "s" gets the ' and then another s. *sigh*

  16. I'm not very good with names, but I can try to help out with pictures. It would help to know what basic "type" of appaloosa Riley's horse is.
Here is a really cool horse color chart which has just about every color you can think of, base colors & patterns:

As for names (and I'm bad with these), you could do Pepper (that may be too feminine???), Cimarron (an old western city. I love the name), Gunner, Hondo (part of a roper's rope), Tracker, or Dusty.
