A Goldtown Activity

Kevan and Ellie heating their stew for lunch.
Leave it to Kevan to modify the "Miner's Stove" activity in the Tunnel of Gold study guide from one stove to accommodate TWO stoves at the same time.
"Can it heat up beef stew?" he called and asked me.
"Try it and see," I answered.
Result: 1/2 cup of beef stew takes 20 minutes to bubble. Yum. Those things really worked down in the cold, dark, gold mines. I bet many a miner ate beef stew for lunch . . . and heated his coffee too. Thanks, "mom," for sending the picture!
p.s. The picture of all three of you, Justan, did not turn out as well. Since your picture is on the bookmarks, I just put the picture of Kevan and Ellie here. Fair's fair!

  4. Sounds like fun! We baked a cake/cobbler in our Dutch oven while we were camping. It was fun, but it took a while to cook!

    1. Not on the books (they are iStock pictures), but he does on the bookmarks I created. Justan, the 12-year-old, does.

    1. My son Chad's daughter, Kaetlyn, although I named her "Ellie" after the granddaughter in the picture above. You can click the Goldtown graphic and scroll way down to see pictures.
