The Carter Horses

Audrey wants to know what the name of Justin's horse is. Maybe it is time for another "vote," but first I need ideas. What should Justin's horse look like and what is its name? I will accept all names and breeds/colors, compile them, and then post them so everybody can vote. Then, whichever name everybody votes for will be Justin's horse and its name . . . for the next series too.

Sound fun? Okay, first of all there needs to be a review of the horses which have already been named in the books. Here you go, in no particular order (you can look on the cover of Family Secret to see Patches, the family's pinto/paint horse):
Panda (Pandora, Melinda's horse)
Snowflake (Kate's horse)
Chase, Mitch's chestnut horse

Sky, Chad's horse, a buckskin

Taffy with Shasta and Sunny

    2. I think Riley in Circle C Beginnings had a horse named Midnight. I haven't read them though, so I'm not positive...

    3. Oh... OK, I haven't read them either.

    2. Dark grey if he's named Shadow, unless he was named Shadow for another reason. (Story idea here. :) )

    3. Oh, I saw a beautiful stallion today, don't know his name. He was gray, with a light silver mane and tail. I thot of Justin for some reason, and thought that would be a nice horse for him! And I like the name Shadow. I almost like Flint better though. And Thunderbolt can go with a lot of horse colors...

  7. IT WORKED! I POSTED FOR LIKE THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS!!! thank you Lord Jesus. I've been here all the time. Reading all the posts and stories. They are all wonderful. Justin's horse? Humm... In a story I wrote for the story contest, I wrote that Justin had a horse. I pictured him to be black (like midnight). But I never did give him a name. I have always wanted a horse named, Swifter. So I'll put that in for a vote. I'm glad I can post again. God bless you all

    1. What ATI camp did you go to? Because we go to ATI too! That is funny you had Chad and Mitch :D

    2. That sounds fun. At our old church, nearly everybody did ATI except our family. :-) I did Sonlight and ACE with my kids. And Apologia when Ryan ("Cory") got older.

      Delete
    3. How fun! I was also in ATI until I graduated. :) I really enjoyed those gatherings!

      Delete
    4. Wow, we also did ACE, Sonlight, and Apologia when we were home schooling! And a few others as well. I like the idea of Justin's horse being black, maybe a quarter horse, but a Morgan sounds good too. And a name...mmm... Flynn?

    5. I do ACE as well in every subject but Math. We use Saxon for math.

    6. ATI was my first camp I'v ever done with out my family. Next year I'm taking all my siblings and youth group! I loved it. The Lord did some amazing things in my life and I'll never be the same...

    7. Jesseca, we also did Saxon for Maths! :)

    8. I did Saxon for math for years and hated it. Then we switched to Math-U-See and it was better. Still never liked math though. :)

    9. I did Math-U-See up to 4th grade, then I switched to Teaching Textbooks and I like math now that I switched!LOL (:

    10. I did Teaching Textbooks for the past two years, but this year I am doing Abeka Consumer Math. I would have done Teaching Textbooks again, but 9th grade advanced algebra was too hard for me, not to think of 10th grade! I am not sure I always like being ahead in school. I am 13 and in 10th grade. Everyone always says I must be terribly good at school, but I am NOT, especially at Math! Anyway, do any of you read Lamplighter books? Some of them are interesting. They are all old books, written hundreds of years ago. I like the name Flint for Justin's horse, and I think it should be a gray stallion with a light-silver mane and tail. I saw a horse like that today. He was beautiful!

  9. It could be a Red Roan Arabian named Apache.

    1. I am SO back on line, thank you, Lord! Windows 8 is okay, since I have it hidden and only use the desktop that LOOKS like my old Windows 7, so I am a happy camper. And CHAD (love that boy!) salvaged my hard drive and got all my files off it, safe and sound. And my dear husband got my Outlook (emails) saved too. So it's like I'm totally back, but just . . . behind, trying to catch up. Thanks for asking!

  11. Wow! What a line up! I'll let you comment about this until Friday and then I'll work up the "voting" poll. Probably 2 polls--one for the color and one for the name. :-)

Me and my family are going to be in an event called "Campfires and Candlelight"
we are going to dress up in 1840's style outfits!
      It's on Saturday.
(the 14th) it starts at 5:00pm and goes to 10:00pm
it is a really fun event!
Would be cool if you could come Mrs. M!! ;)

    3. That would be fun, but we don't live on the west side anymore. We live 3 hours north of Wenatchee on the East side, and our daughter and family are here through the weekend anyway.
But you have a great time. The weather should be perfect!!!

  14. I think his horse Should be a Gray Arabian and be named Napoleon!!!
    Just a thought.

  16. Hey Mrs. Marlow,
I'm not planning on using the Justin the Schoolmaster idea, after all. I just can't get enough ideas to get it off the ground. I think it would make a good blog post ( hint, hint ;-).

  17. Have any of you ever seen champagne horses? It is apparently a newer gene. If you haven't, look it up! They are GORGEOUS! Especially the gold champagnes and dun champagnes.
Just sharing some neat horse info! But I believe those are newly discovered, so I guess one of those can''t be Justin's.
Were Arabian horses in America in the 1880's?
I'll try to find some ideas in my horse books and the put some ideas here!
    :D
    God bless!

  20. It's true that Pal and Justin seem to go together, but it's usually when Pal is hitched up to the buggy. I will, of course, include Pal on the poll. I can't remember, but I think he is a dark bay or maybe a black horse. My memory is fuzzy on this point.

    2. I love quarter horses... and all horses in general. I have a horse of my own, which I got from your farm, Janelle! For all you who don't know her or me, we have known each other our whole lives... 13 years, to be exact. She lives a few miles down the road. Most of what I know about horses comes from her!
