Meet the little model for some of the illustrations for the new Circle C Beginnings series for kids ages 6-8. Her name is Kaetlyn, and she is six years old in these pictures. She has had a lot of fun playing with the horses and trying different modeling poses. The fantastic illustrator is my friend, Leslie Gammelgaard, who has totally outdone herself with her covers and b/w illustrations. I wish I could direct you to her website, but I don't think she has one. If you want to see more, you'll just have to go HERE and download the Activity Packs.

Cooling Off
Since it's August, I thought I'd post this picture of me in the horse trough in front of our barn and tell you how I got there.
It was a perfect Sunday afternoon. Well, nearly perfect. The sun was a mite too hot, and any breeze felt just about like the blacksmith's bellows from the livery. Ever felt that? It's hot! It was too hot to ride Taffy, so I thought I'd wander around the ranch yard and see if anything interesting was going on with the cowhands. Sometimes they tell the best stories! But alas, the hands were lounging around, trying to find a cool spot to get out of the heat.
And then . . . I spotted him . . .

The "Rest of the Story"
I'm starting a new category called "Ranch Stories." These will be posts that tie up loose ends that some of the books hinted at. For instance, whatever happened to that big, black stallion that nearly killed me in the first few chapters of Long Ride Home? Or what about Felicity? Did she ever turn over a new leaf? Or what happened to little Lin Mei in San Francisco Smugglers? Did she get to stay at the Mission Home or did she end up back in Chinatown?
Whenever I learn something new (from my brothers or my mother or from other sources), I'll see if I can tell the "rest of the story" for some of my favorite characters and/or events.
Hey, if there is some incident or person you are interested in and you want to know what happened to them, just ask me in the Chat Box or in a comment, and I'll get right on investigating it!
